Defense leader receives Lao guest

Sr. Lt. Gen. Hoang Xuan Chien receives Maj. Gen. Bounphong Bouttavong.

At the meeting, Gen. Chien affirmed that the senior leaders of both countries always value the preservation and consolidation of the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos under all circumstances. He expressed hope that this relationship would continue to bear fruit.

The Vietnamese defense leader praised the increasingly practical and effective bilateral defense ties in recent times, noting that they remain a key pillar of the overall relationship. He highly appreciated the regular meetings, experience sharing, and timely recommendations on financial affairs between the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense’s Department of Finance and its Lao counterpart. These efforts, he noted, have contributed to the effective implementation of the Vietnam–Laos defense cooperation.

For his part, Maj. Gen. Bounphong Bouttavong briefed the host on the outcomes of his earlier talks with the Vietnamese Department of Finance. He affirmed his commitment to implementing the agreed areas of cooperation and expressed his hope that ties between the two departments, as well as between the two militaries, would continue to grow stronger.

Based on the outcomes of the earlier talks, Gen. Chien urged the two departments to maintain close coordination, especially in their areas of expertise. He also emphasized the importance of continued experience sharing, innovation, and improved financial management, as well as the enhanced effectiveness of their advisory roles.

Gen. Chien stressed that the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense always pays close attention to, supports, and creates favorable conditions for cooperation between the two military financial agencies.
