Addressing the event, General Vinh underscored the wholehearted support and cooperation by the Cuban Party, State and military to Vietnam since the early days of the COVID-19 outbreak. Both sides have organized many teleconferences to share experience in COVID-19 prevention and control.
In addition to the medicines, a Cuban medical expert team was sent to Vietnam to support the country amid the complicated developments of the pandemic. Though they are now in a 14-day quarantine period, they have been actively sharing their experience with their Vietnamese colleagues via video calls. All Cuban experts emphasize that they are all ready to go into pandemic-hit areas with Vietnamese doctors.
Earlier, Vietnam also presented three tons of medical supplies to Cuba, including SAR-CoV-2 test kits, medical face masks and different kinds of medicines.
These activities showed the spirit of mutual support for each other to overcome difficulties – a longstanding tradition of solidarity, friendship and faithfulness between Vietnam and Cuba, contributing to celebrating the 60th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the two nations (December 2, 1960-2020), stressed General Vinh.
For her part, Ambassador Lianys Torres Rivera highlighted the effectiveness and safety of Interferon Alfa-2b in curing diseases, including the COVID-19, in Cuba after being put into operation so far.
The Cuban diplomat underlined that the support proved the special fraternity between Cuba and Vietnam which has been developing from the past until now and should be further boosted in the future. It is expected to serve as the beginning of bilateral cooperation in pharmacy, contributing to fostering the comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
