The event was attended by General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission (CMC), Minister of National Defense; Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong, member of the Party Central Committee (PCC), member of CMC’s Standing Committee, Chief of the General Staff, Deputy Defense Minister; Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, member of PCC, Deputy Defense Minister; Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet, member of PCC, Deputy Chief of the General Department of Political Affairs; and other representatives of the General Staff and the General Department of Political Affairs, central agencies, ministries, general departments and units, academies, and schools in the whole military.
The event also saw the attendance of Chiefs of Army of ASEAN countries, defense attachés of ASEAN members to Vietnam, delegations participating in the 10th ASEAN Sergeant Major Annual Meeting (ASMAM-10), and athletes joining AARM-30.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia, Deputy Chief of the General Staff, said that with the efforts and determination of ten teams from armies of ASEAN countries, the AARM-30 ended with great success. He emphasized that AARM-30 is a good opportunity for ASEAN countries’ militaries in general and armies in particular to exchange, learn from one another, and promote cooperation, contributing to preserving the peaceful and stable environment and common development in region and the world.
Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia added that the participation of teams of armies of all ASEAN members in AARM-30 was of special significance. It was the clearest demonstration of member countries’ commitment to ASEAN's common activities and at the same time shows the solidarity and friendship between ASEAN countries’ militaries in general and armies in particular.
The Vietnamese deputy chief expressed his belief that participants in this shooting competition have left a good impression in the hearts of the spectators. Through sports exchanges and cultural trips, participating firers had more understanding about Vietnam, its people and military.
Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia highly appreciated the efforts and achievements obtained by teams at this competition, especially the sense of responsibility and friendly sportsmanship that the delegations showed during the event. He also lauded the efforts and close synergies between the organizing panel and agencies and units in preparing and organizing AARM-30.
He took the occasion to thank to the delegations of armies of ASEAN countries for supporting and attending events organized by the Vietnam People's Army and said that this is a decisive factor for the common success of events taking place in Vietnam this time.
At the closing ceremony, the organizing panel awarded medals to teams and individuals with excellent achievements in the event.
Major General Thai Van Minh, Director of the Military Training Department under the General Staff, evaluated that the achievements of participants in many contents within the framework of AARM-30 are higher than that of previous editions. Notably, the Vietnamese delegation excellently ranked first, followed by the Indonesian and the Philippine delegations. Other teams had good performances, and their members won gold, silver, and bronze medals.
Also at the closing ceremony, the AARM flag was lowered, and Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia handed it to the representative of the Royal Thai Army - the host country of AARM-31 next year.
