The impact of the Vietnam – Republic of Korea (RoK) free trade agreement (FTA) in solidifying the two countries’ economic ties was the main topic during a workshop in the northern province of Thai Nguyen on August 17.

Delegates at the workshop.

The event was jointly held by the Thai Nguyen University of Economics and Business Administration under the Thai Nguyen University, the Korean Association of Trade and Industry Studies, the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy, and the Korea Institute for Industrial Economics and Trade.

Participants, including policy researchers, professors and doctors from the RoK, the Philippines and Vietnam, focused on discussing post-FTA economic prospects, the balance of Vietnam-RoK trade, the impact of changes in the global value chain on the two countries’ businesses and international cooperation in integration.

They also exchanged opinions on a strategy to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries.

Many delegates suggested Vietnam design strategies to attract more investments from the RoK, as the country’s investors are looking to expand assets in finance, banking, energy, infrastructure and retail.
