Art performances featuring ecosystem protection, poverty and hunger combating and education development were held during the event.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Russian President Vladimir Putin highlighted the outstanding contribution youths make to society, and called on young people to build their own future and make the world a better place.

The festival welcomed more than 20,000 youths from about 180 countries. Up to 5,000 volunteers, including 314 foreign ones including Vietnamese were mobilised to support delegates.

Vietnamese delegates will join most of the key activities in the festival from October 12-22, including workshops, seminars, exhibition, bilateral meetings, and musical exchanges.

According to the HCYU, the festival is expected to present an opportunity for Vietnam to strengthen ties with youth organizations and partners in Russia, contributing to Vietnam – Russia relations.
