PANO- The 2013 corporate social responsibility (CSR) conference was held in Hai Duong City on December 24th by the Republic of Korean Embassy in Vietnam, Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) and the Hai Duong provincial People’s Committee, with the participation of 11 businesses.
Addressing the ceremony, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Hai Duong provincial People’s Committee, Mr. Nguyen Duong Thai, said that the Republic of Korea currently ranks sixth among countries investing in the locality, with total registered capital of over USD 340 million, mainly in the fields of garment, footwear, electronics and automobile assembly.
This year, participating Korean firms will finance over US$200,000 to help the province treat children and needy patients, present scholarships, support business owners who were suffered the consequences of the fire in the Hai Duong Trade Centre, and present clothes to needy families in the province.
Since 2012, KOTRA and the Republic of Korean Embassy in Vietnam have organized CSR conferences to attract Korean companies to participate in CSR activities in Vietnam. The number of companies participating in CSR activities is increasing and attracts attention from the public.
Korean Ambassador in Vietnam Mr. Jeon Dae Ju hoped that the CSR conference will continue being organized to attract more Korean participants.
