According to the organizing panel, the Asia-Oceania Esperanto Association, in collaboration with the Vietnam Esperanto Association, opens the AK9 on April 26 in Da Nang.
The AK9 has drawn the participation of 300 delegates from 20 countries worldwide, including the host Vietnam.
The AK9 agenda includes plenary sessions, seminars, exhibitions on education, studies, cooperation, fairs, art and cultural exchanges as well as promoting cooperation to develop Esperanto to people across the world.
During the event, the delegates are expected to boost connectivity of Esperanto movements in the world for the sake of peace, cooperation and sustainable development.
This is the second time Vietnam has hosted an Asia-Oceania Esperanto Congress.
The AK9 provides an opportunity for the Vietnam Esperanto Association to promote the Esperanto movements in Asia and Oceania as well as in Vietnam. The event offers another opportunity for the city to introduce landmarks and achievements in socio-economic development of Da Nang in particular Vietnam in general.
The Asia Esperanto Association established on July 28, 1994 at the 79th Global Esperanto Congress in Seoul, the Republic of Korea, aimed to connect and develop the Esperanto movements in the region.
Then, it was renamed as the Asia-Ocean Esperanto Association after it admitted two more members namely the Australia and New Zealand Esperanto Associations in 2017.
The Esperanto Congress is the biggest event of the Asian- Oceania Esperanto Association which is held triennially in one of its member countries.
It was firstly held in Shanghai, China in 1996, and the second in Hanoi, Vietnam in 1999.
