GE Digital Energy brings innovative solutions to power industry

PANO - A new seminar on innovative technologies and solutions to ensure a safe, reliable power network in Vietnam was held on March 24^th in Hanoi by GE Digital Energy and its local distributor Hoang Trang Group. 

The seminar, which aimed to discuss innovative protection, control and automation solutions for electrical applications at power projects nationwide, featured a presentation by technical experts from GE Digital Energy introducing GE Digital Energy’s business, its state-of-the-art product lines and automation solutions for power system to leaders from Electricity of Vietnam, local companies and industry associations. A similar seminar will also be held in Ho Chi Minh City on March 26 2010.

This was the first time that GE Digital Energy had officially introduced itself to Vietnam’s power industry and end-use customers. GE has one of the broadest portfolios of Smart Grid solutions available today, ranging from energy distribution to financing and helping utilities. According to GE experts, the group continues to work with customers around the world to deploy solutions that bring governments, utilities and consumers toward a more energy-efficient tomorrow. GE Digital Energy has been providing innovative technology to improve the resilience and responsiveness of the grid for over 25 years. With expertise and experience gleaned through work in many countries worldwide, GE Digital Energy is currently serving generation, transmission, and distribution utilities, and industrial, commercial and residential power consumers - including high-profile partners in Vietnam - i.e., EVN, PetroVietnam, and Industrial customer, forming great partnerships for close and effective bilateral co-operation.

The rate of fatal electrical injuries in electrical network and other commercial, residential, industrial areas in Vietnam has reached an increasingly alarming level due to bad-quality power network design. With people living and working in close proximity to high-voltage poorly-installed electrical supply lines, the risk of public injury is a major concern. Understanding the root of this issue, GE Digital Energy provides intelligent devices protecting generators to transmission and distribution lines to motors to enable greater grid safety, reliable connectivity, and increased grid security. This power system protection and management solution product line continues the rich tradition of GE’s 100 years in protection & control. 

The seminar provides a platform for discussion and exchanges among targeted partners, customers and experts from GE Digital Energy to further develop a mutual understanding, and thereby create more mutually beneficial business opportunities. “We would like to share our innovative solutions and advanced technologies for the further development of the power industry in Vietnam as we have done in other countries. GE Digital Energy may be a relatively new business to Vietnamese but we can make positive contribution to the industry with our extensive experience and expertise in the electrical industry.
