Students from Kaisei High School in Sapporo City, Hokkaido, Japan have selected Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s southern economic hub, their destination for this winter.
In the city, the Japanese students could taste typical fruits of Vietnam introduced by teachers and students of Tran Dai Nghia Gifted Secondary and High School. They were also instructed how to play folk games as hopscotch, o an quan (mandarin square capturing, a traditional board game of Vietnamese kids) and banh chuyen (bamboo jacks with ten thin and round bamboo sticks).

For their part, the guests introduced to Vietnamese teachers and students beautiful images of Japanese culture, the beauty of Hokkaido in four seasons and favourite junk food of Japanese youths.
The Japanese students could also find out more about the city via visits to the centre for orphans, the Museum of War Remnants, and Japan-funded structures.
Momona, aged 16, expressed deep admiration for generations of Vietnamese people who have been firmly defending the country and was surprised at the positive changes of Ho Chi Minh City.
Another student Shinya was impressed by young Vietnamese’s intelligence, energy, and broad knowledge.
