Reviewing joint work between the two ministries over the past years, both sides said they helped raise public awareness of great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, especially on the occasion of major celebrations in each side.
Vongdala thanked the Vietnamese Party, Government and people for providing practical, effective and invaluable support for Laos in the past struggle for national independence and the current construction and development.
He lauded the Vietnamese ministry for holding refresher courses for Lao reporters and editors, and asked for further support in the field.
The host expressed his belief that the collaboration between the two ministries will be further expanded in diverse areas in the future.
For his part, Minister Hung affirmed the close cooperation with the Lao ministry and said he will work to elevate it to a new high.
As the information and communications sector plays an important role in introducing the policies and regulations in both nations, Hung suggested both ministries bolster collaboration in various fields, particularly in training for reporters and editors, as well as maintain annual journalist exchanges.
The two ministries should direct press and media agencies to increase reports on the socio-economic situation of the two countries and their peoples and land, helping tighten the friendship and solidarity between the two countries, he recommended.
He took the occasion to thank the Lao side for creating favourable conditions for Vietnamese reporters to fulfill their mission in the host nation.
Hung and Bosengkham Vongdala inked a cooperation deal between the two countries.
Earlier, Hung visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos and worked with Vietnamese press offices in the country.
