According to the ambassador, the official visit to Vietnam in August 2017 of the then Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim was an important milestone in the bilateral ties while the recent visit by National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan to Turkey was a lever to promote the two countries' relations. Turkey considers Vietnam as a reliable partner in Southeast Asia and always supports Vietnam's bid for a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2020-2021 tenure, he added.
"We are ready to promote the bilateral cooperation in the fields of defense industry, participation in UN peacekeeping operations, counter-terrorism and maritime security. Besides, we also encourage Turkish businesses to take advantage of opportunities in an attractive market like Vietnam," said Ambassador Akif Ayhan.
