Vietnam treasures cooperation with Japan: PM
Vietnam treasures the practical and trustworthy partnership with Japan, considering it a priority in the country’s foreign relations policy, stated Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
He made the remark at a meeting with Tadamori Oshima, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan, in Tokyo on June 5.

PM Phuc expressed his delight toward robust growth of the Vietnam-Japan intensive strategic partnership, and close cooperation between the two parliaments.
Lauding outcomes of Tadamori Oshima’s visit to Vietnam in late May, he asked the Japanese House of Representatives to increase exchanges with the Vietnam National Assembly in making laws and promoting the role of their friendship parliamentary groups in boosting bilateral ties.
He suggested the two bodies work together at regional and international forums, including the 2018 Asia Pacific Parliamentary Forum hosted by Vietnam.
The PM requested the Japanese lower house to back stance on the East Sea (South China Sea) issue of ASEAN and Vietnam.
He also suggested the body support the Japanese Government’s official development assistance for Vietnam to develop key infrastructure projects, improve workforce quality and respond to climate change.
Tadamori Oshima said he values Japan’s cooperation with Vietnam and wants to support the relationship to thrive in all fields.
He agreed to boost mutual trust and understanding through exchanges between committees and young parliamentarians.
He stressed that the House of Representatives of Japan and Japan - Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Group are willing to work with the Vietnamese side in the celebration of 45-year relations between the two countries.
