Vietnam’s HCM City, Australia’s Victoria state to expand cooperation
PANO - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong welcomed Governor of Australia’s Victoria state Linda Dessau on October 4.
At the reception, Phong emphasized the strong development of relations between HCM City and Australia in general and between the city and Victoria state in particular.
The HCM City leader held that the city is always willing to boost cooperation ties with partners from the Australian state in developing innovative ecosystem, experience exchanges, education, and startups.

For her part, Dessau thanked the city’s leadership for a warm welcome and expressed delight at the sound growth of Australia-Vietnam cooperation across agriculture, education, and trade.
She affirmed that Victoria state’s administration and businesses appreciate the potential of HCM City and hope to promote cooperation with the city in innovative startups, education, agriculture, smart cities, clean water, and renewable energy.
Reportedly, Australia is the 17th biggest foreign investor among 106 countries and territories investing in HCM City, with 182 projects worth nearly USD 188 million. Last year, two-way trade was recorded at nearly USD 1 billion while the city received more than 300,000 Australian tourists.
