Vietnam, Portugal to enhance relations
PANO - Deputy-Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue on January 26 met with President of the Portuguese National Assembly Eduardo Ferro Rodrigues, and Portuguese Minister of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security José António Vieira Da Silva.
During the meeting with Mr. Rodrigues, Deputy-PM Hue affirmed that Vietnam always attaches great importance to cooperation with Portugal. This visit with the presence of Vietnam’s leading economic groups aims to promote trade and economic relation with Portugal, he added.
Besides, he also hoped that Portugal would promote its role as a member of the EU to boost trade cooperation and connectivity between ASEAN and EU, as well as support the early signing of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) in the coming time.

For his part, Mr. Rodrigues highly appreciated Vietnam's role on the international arena and the cooperation between the two countries, as well as voiced his support for multilateral trade and the signing of EVFTA between Vietnam and EU.
* At the meeting with Portugal’s Minister of Labor, Solidarity and Social Security, the two sides shared the view that ensuring social welfare plays an important factor for socio-economic development. Vietnam and Portugal has many similarities and the two nations can exchange experiences on economic development and social policies, especially in the fields of social insurance and wages.
The two leaders also agreed that the Portuguese Ministry would coordinate with relevant ministries and agencies in Vietnam such as the Ministry of Labor and Invalids and Social Affairs and Ministry of Interior in reforming wage policies and social insurance.
