During their phone talk, both sides agreed to strengthen coordination between the two foreign ministries, expand delegation exchanges and high-level contacts, effectively implement the Action Plan to accelerate the Vietnam - New Zealand strategic partnership for the 2021-2024 period, and soon negotiate and sign another plan for the new period.

Besides, the two sides consented to boost cooperation in trade and investment, optimize the efficiency of the Joint Committee for Economic and Trade Cooperation, as well as step up people-to-people exchanges.

They will team up with each other to make good preparations for the upcoming visits by the two countries’ leaders, contributing to lifting the bilateral relations to a new height.

The two sides pledged to continue to boost coordination and cooperation in multilateral forums, especially the United Nations, ASEAN and mechanisms led by ASEAN. The Vietnamese foreign minister affirmed that Vietnam will actively promote practical cooperation programs between ASEAN and New Zealand as the coordinator of ASEAN - New Zealand relations. On this occasion, Minister Bui Thanh Son invited New Zealand Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Winston Peters to visit Vietnam soon.
