Vietnam Journalists’ Association boosts ties with APES
PANO - President of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association (VJA) Thuan Huu, a member of the Party Central Committee and Editor-in-Chief of the Nhan Dan (People’s) Newspaper, hosted a reception on November 28 in Hanoi for a visiting delegation of the Foreign Press Association in Switzerland and Liechtenstein (APES), led by its President, Jean Musy.
At the reception, the
VJA President briefed the guests on the Vietnamese association’s establishment
and development, typical press and social activities over the past years,
training and conferences in different fields, including world’s press, and
cooperation with other international press associations from China, the
Republic of Korea, and ASEAN member countries, also adding that the VJA is the current
chair of the Confederation of ASEAN Journalists.

Recognizing the two
sides’ outcomes of cooperation over the past time, the VJA President believed
that the APES delegation’s visit to Vietnam would foster further cooperation
between the two associations’ press information services.
For
his part, APES President Jean Musy expressed thanks to the host and pointed out
that the association was founded in 1928 by professional journalists from
different countries who are working in Geneva-based press agencies.
The
APES President said that the APES has 120 member organizations and its active
members are journalists specialized in international affairs with mainly
articles on the latest happenings in Switzerland, the United Nations and other
international organizations in Geneva, Switzerland and that the APES is the
only association representing foreign journalists and foreign mass media in
Switzerland recognized by the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of
Switzerland.
During the meeting,
the two sides also exchanged issues of common concern related to each side’s press activities.
Concluding the
meeting, the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding on bilateral
cooperation in the 2017-2018 period. Accordingly, they will cooperate in
running articles on the two countries’ socio-economic, political and cultural
development, contributing to enhancing mutual understanding between the two organizations.
They will also boost exchanges of delegation to gather experience and
improve expertise.
