At the reception, the Vietnamese foreign minister asked the two sides to promote important cooperation pillars, including politics – diplomacy, defense – security, trade – investment, science – technology, culture and people-to-people exchange, and especially tourism in the context that the two countries have re-opened their borders to tourists and are holding various activities to mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the bilateral diplomatic ties.

For his part, the Indian deputy foreign minister affirmed that India considers Vietnam an important pillar in India's Act East policy and commits to work together to further promote Vietnam - India comprehensive strategic partnership in the coming time. 

Earlier the same day, in realizing the agreement between the two foreign ministries, Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Vu and his Indian counterpart Saurabh Kumar co-chaired the 12th round of Political Consultations and the 9th round of Strategic Dialogue in Hanoi.

At the event, the two sides highly appreciated the recent developments in their comprehensive strategic partnership in different cooperation fields. They expressed satisfaction over the fruitful development of the bilateral relationship and agreed to support each other at international and regional forums.

Regarding the East Sea (internationally South China Sea), both sides agreed on the necessity of maintaining peace, stability, cooperation, and development and respecting international laws, including the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) 1982, sovereignty and sovereign rights of countries, and freedom of navigation and overflight.
