Addressing the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Quoc Dung said the course not only enables better preparations for the country’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2020, but also contributes to strengthening the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and New Zealand.
For her part, New Zealand Ambassador to Vietnam Wendy Matthews underlined that education is a key pillar of the New Zealand-Vietnam relationship, adding that targeted training programs for the Vietnamese officials are part of the bilateral broader education cooperation.
She hoped that through this program, New Zealand would contribute to Vietnam’s successful year of ASEAN Chairmanship in 2020. In addition, 2020 will be a special year, as New Zealand and Vietnam will celebrate the 45th anniversary of their diplomatic relationship establishment.
