Many notable people were in attendance, including Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung and Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA), Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Phuong Nam.

Speaking at the event, Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Pranay Verma spoke of his country's history of struggle for independence and national construction as well as the traditional friendship between India and Vietnam.

The Indian diplomat affirmed that Vietnam is an important partner in India’s Act East policy.

He wished Vietnam success as ASEAN Chair in 2020 and as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in the 2020-2021 term. 

For his part, Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung expressed his delight at the strong development of the Vietnam-India ties in politics, defense-security, economy-trade, technology, culture, and people-to-people exchange.

He hoped that the two countries would continue to share their similar viewpoints in peacekeeping, stability, cooperation and development in the region, adding that he believed in a bright future for the Vietnam-India comprehensive strategic partnership for the benefits of the two countries, and for peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and the world.
