At a working session with the delegation, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) Phan Van Anh introduced the VGCL’s project on building a trade union institution at the Dong Van 2 industrial park in Ha Nam.

Accordingly, the project includes a five-storey apartment complex that accommodates 976 apartments, a multi-functional sport centre, a 5,000-seat square, supermarkets, clinics and schools, among other facilities. Once operational, it will be capable of housing between 4,000 and 4,500 workers at the park. Currently, its first phase has been completed, with about 250 apartments built.

Ju Yong Gil, who is also member of the Workers' Party of Korea Central Committee, praised the attention paid by the Vietnamese Party, Government, the VGCL, and Ha Nam authorities to workers at industrial zones.

He stated via this tour, the GFTUK wants to learn experiences on the construction of such institutions as well as the implementation of policies on ensuring workers’ rights and interest, and raising their living standards.
