Belgium, Vietnam eye successful development partnership
PANO – The Belgian Embassy to Vietnam held an event “Belgium-Vietnam: A successful development partnership” in Hanoi on May 31.
It aimed to officially wrap up the Framework Agreement on Economic, Industrial and Technical Cooperation - the general legal basis of the official program of cooperation between the two countries, which was signed on October 11, 1977.
According to Belgian Ambassador Paul Jansen, over the last 42 years, the Belgian Government has invested more than EUR 500 million in development projects in Vietnam.
Particularly, with a financial assistance from Belgium, the Vietnam Women's Association built and successfully ran a credit funding project for its members to help them develop their household economies. The Belgian Development Agency (Enabel) has improved education quality and boosted green growth in Vietnam.
In addition, the Belgian diplomat said that, in the time to come, the two countries will focus on the cooperation between their universities, private sectors, trade, and experience sharing in agriculture and environmentally friendly technologies.
