Sixteen businesses which specialise in producing, trading and exporting indoor and outdoor wooden products from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and some provinces, attended a wooden products and handicraft fair in Las Vegas, the US, from July 31 to August 1.

The participation of the Vietnamese businesses received assistance from the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency, Vietnam Trade Office in the US and the Ho Chi Minh City Handicrafts and Wood Industry Association (HAWA). Their wooden products, handicrafts and indoor furniture were displayed on an area of 400 square metres at the fair.

According to the organising board, the US real estate market has experienced difficult times since early 2007, badly affecting local demands for wooden furniture. But still, importers, distributors, whole-sale and retail dealers from north America (US and Canada) and other countries have paid keen interest in Vietnamese wooden products thanks to their high quality, reasonable prices and attractive design.

To attract visitors to the Vietnamese booth, the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency and the Vietnam Trade Office in the US undertook marketing activities, including sending invitations and publishing advertisements on Furniture Today – a prestigious magazine specialising in wooden products and handicraft.

During the fair, hundreds oftransactions were conducted and some cooperation deals were signed. Many partners pledged to come to Vietnam to explore production capacity and technology of Vietnamese businesses.

Las Vegas fair - one of the world’s biggest wooden products and handicraft fairs - is held annually in January and July. It is part of trade promotion activities for Vietnamese wooden products and indoor furniture designedby the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency and the Vietnam Trade Office in the US and HAWA in the past several years. In the coming years, the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency and the Vietnam Trade Office in the US will continue to assist wood production enterprises to take part in similar fairs to introduce Vietnamese products to US customers and boost exports.
