The Ho Chi Minh City branch of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Pakistan’s Trade Development Authority on September 10 held a meeting in the city for pharmaceutical businesses of the two sides to popularise their products and seek partners.
According to Nguyen The Hung, Deputy Director of the branch, Vietnam spent over 3.5 billion USD importing pharmaceutical products and materials in 2012.
Vietnam’s pharmaceutical industry is seeing a remarkable growth rate from 13.5 percent in the 2008-2011 period to 25 percent in 2012.
Hung underlined the huge potential for cooperation between the two countries in the industry, affirming that it will bring many cooperation opportunities for both countries’ businesses in the future.
Aizaz Khan, a representative from the Pakistani Embassy in Vietnam, said bilateral cooperation between the two countries is seeing increasing development, especially in investment and trade.
Vietnam and Pakistan have opened direct air routes and bank branches in both countries to facilitate goods transportation and trading, thus contributing to promoting trade cooperation between the two sides’ business communities.
At the event, representatives from the Pakistani side called on Vietnamese enterprises to further invest in Pakistan.
In the first four months of this year, two-way trade exceeded 96 million USD.
