The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) held a seminar entitled “Le Havre port-gateway to Europe” in Hanoi on May 15 within the framework of cooperation with the Le Havre Port Authority in France.
At the seminar, the executive director of the Le Havre Port in ASEAN, Jean-Marc Lacave introduced Vietnamese enterprises the important role of Le Havre Port in EU trade and transportation, and a number of projects to upgrade the port in the future.
Vice Chairman Christian Leroux expressed his hope that Vietnam will choose the port as a transit point for exporting and importing goods in future. He added that Le Havre port will also help Vietnamese seaport associations with development planning in terms of consultancy, exchange of experiences in technical and professional skills.
Considered as a gateway to Europe, Le Havre Port is the largest port in France in foreign trade in general and cargo container in particular with its total volume of goods reaching 74.5 million tonnes in 2006. It is also the fifth largest cargo port in Europe.
