Sanofi, a leader in consumer health care, will build its third factory in Vietnam at a total investment of 75 million USD.

Sanofi CEO Chris Viehbacher said on March 29 that the factory, based in the high-tech park in Ho Chi Minh City , is the group’s largest project in the country to date.

Equipped with modern technologies, the factory has the initial annual capacity of 90 million product units, which will increase to 150 million in the future.

The facility is scheduled to be put into operation in 2015 and its products, including pharmaceutical and personal care products and veterinary medicines, will be put on the market in 2016.

At the same time, Sanofi will set up its first research centre in Southeast Asia that studies and develops new products for regional countries.

Present in Vietnam since 1960, the group has established a strong partnership with Vietnam Pharmaceutical Corporation (Vinapharm) since 1993.

Sanofi is the only foreign pharmaceutical company with two WHO-GMP certified manufacturing facilities in Ho Chi Minh City.

Last year, Sanofi Vietnam led the pharmaceutical market in Vietnam with a market share of four percent.
