Reference exchange rate revised down on Jan 8
The State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference VND/USD exchange rate at VND 22,401 on January 8, down VND 6 from the rate set on the last day of previous week (January 5).
With the current trading band of +/- 3 percent, the ceiling rate applied
to commercial banks during the day is VND 23,070/USD and the floor rate
VND 21,734/USD.
The rates listed at major commercial banks saw strong fluctuations.
At 8:30 on January 8, Vietcombank listed its buying rate at VND 22,695/USD, up VND 20 from January 5, and the selling rate at VND 22,785,
up VND 40.
Vietinbank cut its buying rate by VND 10 to VND 22,665/USD and
maintained the same selling rate as on January 5 at VND 22,745/USD.
Meanwhile, BIDV kept both rates unchanged at VND 22,680 (buying) and VND 22,750/USD (selling).
