Keangnam Landmark Tower, the present tallest building in Hanoi.

Kinh Bac Group, the investor of the 5-star Lotus Tower Hotel, wants to break ground for the project in the first quarter of 2011, affirmed the group’s President, Dang Thanh Tam.

Lotus is a huge project that will draw around US$ 1 billion of investment to build a skyscraper in Me Tri Commune, Tu Liem, Hanoi.

Under the design, the project is a multi-functional complex that contains a 100-floor tower, the tallest-ever building in Vietnam, 5-star hotels, uplifted garden, a trade centre and other functional sections.

In August 2010, the group and local authorities agreed on several changes in the design and the functions of the project.

Earlier, Riviera Group, Japan, had considered investing in the Lotus project, which had been much smaller, then, in scale than the current one.

After the Japanese group withdrew from the project due to its financial difficulties, Kinh Bac Group asked Hanoi to invest in it and has expanded the project.
