The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has provided 4.66 million USD to a project to improve the system to control safety of agricultural and seafood products.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the 5.1 million USD project is being carried out by the Department of Management of Agro-Forestry and Aquatic Quality from December 2011-December of 2014.
Under the project, Vietnamese staff specialising in agricultural and seafood products safety will attend training courses in Japan and in Vietnam to improve their inspection capacity and test analysis skills.
Japanese experts will also help upgrade laboratory processes and build a national food safety inspection programme.
