An exhibition of gemstones, jewelry, gem statues and gem paintings worth millions of US dollars will open on November 6 at the Melia Hotel in Hanoi.

One of the biggest gemstones in Vietnam weighing early 2 kg will be displayed at the event, said the organising board.

According to the Than Chau Ngoc Viet Jewelry and Gem Stone Company - an organiser of the event - many products and paintings made with rubies, sapphires, spinel, peridot, tourmaline, quarzt and opal will be exhibited.

The event is to honour the beauty of Vietnamese natural precious stones and draw public attention to gem stone mining and cutting, said Dao Trong Cuong, Director of the company.

This is the second exhibition held by the company. The first one was in 2002 in Hanoi.
