Last year, the military-run company earned over VND 251 trillion in revenue, accounting for 50 percent of the total revenue of Vietnam's telecommunications industry, and more than VND 39 trillion in profit, up by 5.5 percent.

As a result, the group contributed VND 38 trillion to the State budget, up by 2.7 percent against the previous year.

An overview of the conference 

The revenue from the domestic telecommunications market of Viettel increased by 6.4 percent, while the turnover of its overseas investments rose by 24.4 percent. Particularly, Viettel reached a turnover of some VND 42 trillion from its overseas operations investment in 2019.

Sales of Viettel’s telecommunications - information technology solutions also increased by 40 percent year-on-year. Notably, the telecom giant was awarded a number of major contracts such as the e-Government project, smart city model, and other modernization projects in health, education, and transportation sectors.

Regarding the digital payment service, Viettel has gradually improved its ecosystem ViettelPay, which has over 300 partners from 15 service sectors. There were around 40 million transactions worth VND 50 trillion. Viettel plans to bring services to customers through mobile phones with Mobile Money, a digital payment service through a mobile account.

In addition, Viettel has taken the lead in cyber security and high-tech products.

In his speech, Major General Le Dang Dung, Acting Chairman and Acting Director General of Viettel, affirmed that the company will complete its set digital transformation strategy in 2020. Viettel will become a digital transformation consultant for all organizations and businesses and build up safe digital ecosystems for local users.

Viettel also targets to successfully launch a pilot run of its own 5G equipment, grow an additional 10 million 4G subscribers, and launch the Mobile Money service.

At the conference, 21 individuals and organizations of Viettel were presented with certificates from the Defense Ministry and the company for their outstanding achievements while implementing assigned tasks last year.
