In his remarks, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu said Japan is a leading economic partner of Vietnam as it is currently the biggest provider of official development assistance (ODA) for the latter, the second biggest labor partner, the third largest tourism partner, and also ranks fourth among trading partners of Vietnam.

Forum held to attract more investment from Japan’s Kanagawa to Vietnam

Japanese investors, including those from Kanagawa, have been playing a critical role in Vietnam’s foreign investment attraction over the last 35 years, he noted.

Nguyen Anh Chuc, Standing Vice Chairman of the Ha Nam provincial People’s Committee, highlighted his province’s investment potential in such fields as processing - manufacturing, information technology, automobile production, agricultural and electrical equipment production, electronics, tourism, and services. He also highlighted the local administration’s moves to create an optimal investment environment.

Meanwhile, Le Thi Thu Huyen, deputy head of the Bac Ninh industrial park management board, emphasized the province’s attractiveness to foreign investment and preferential policies for investors.

Kanagawa Governor Kuroiwa Yuji considered the forum a good chance for his prefecture’s enterprises to update themselves with the latest information about the business environment in Vietnam so as to identify suitable directions for their future investments in the Southeast Asian country.

He expressed his hope that more and more Kanagawa enterprises will select Vietnam as their investment destination and actively contribute to economic and trade partnerships between the two countries.

The Vietnam - Japan investment cooperation forum was the first among a series of events on economic, cultural, and tourism cooperation of the Vietnam Day in Kanagawa 2023, held from September 8 to 10. The Day is among part of activities celebrating 50 years of the two countries’ diplomatic relations.
