Briefing the guests on the potential and development orientations of the economic zone, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Tran Nam Hung said the zone is positioned as an engine economic area in southern Da Nang, geared toward industrial development, logistics, modern urbanization, and tourism.

According to the official, the zone has been planned to include satellite urban areas, new urban and industrial areas, an airport city, coastal urban zones, and ecotourism developments.
The transport infrastructure in the area is well-connected and meets development needs. It includes access to the North-South railway, the Da Nang-Quang Ngai expressway, National Highway 1A, the coastal ring road, and the North-South high-speed railway, which is currently being developed.
Hung also outlined detailed plans for commercial zones, duty-free areas, public service centers, commercial service hubs, industrial parks, warehouses, yards, as well as port and logistics facilities, in the zone.
Regarding investment to upgrade and expand the Chu Lai Airport, he noted that under the Master Plan for the National Airport System for 2021–2030, with a vision to 2050, Chu Lai is designated as an international airport meeting the International Civil Aviation Organization's (ICAO) 4F standard, with passenger capacity projected to hit 10 million per year by 2030.
The plan also envisions establishing an air freight logistics hub, a pilot training center, and an aircraft maintenance and repair facility at the airport, Hung added.
The official welcomed proposals from representatives from the Royal Schiphol Group and NACO on planning and upgrading the airport to meet international standards, drawing on the experience of developed countries.
