PANO – Glittering and sparkling memories those days of Mid-Autumn Festival lanterns and traditional toys of all kinds are still lingering in the mind of quite a few people. Those memories were partly revived in the program “Joyful Mid-Autumn Festival 2016” held at the Thang Long imperial citadel, Hanoi.

In the spacious environment of the imperial citadel, children enjoyed a puppet performance and a lion dance. A good number of traditional folk games were organized for children to experience, such as carrying rice walking past a bamboo bridge, tug-of-war, seesaw, merry-go-round, sticks and a ball game, earthen crackers, etc.

Apart from joining the games, children were also instructed by artisans to make moon cakes and traditional toys for Mid-Autumn Festival such as pasteboard masks, star-lanterns, “to he” (a kind of children toys made from rice paste mixed with colors), etc.

Below are a number of images of the children at the festival.

Mid-Autumn Festival is also a chance for children to better understand Vietnam's folk culture.
