At the ceremony, Senior Colonel Tao Duc Thang affirmed that in 2022, Viettel FC players made great contribution to Vietnamese national football teams. Eight players of the club joined the national football team, accounting for 31 percent of the team. The number of young players to the U17, U19, and U21 teams was 27 players, accounting for 43 percent of the teams. Hoang Duc, Thanh Binh, Nham Manh Dung, Phan Tuan Tai were the four main faces of the squad that won the gold medal at the 31st SEA Games and also the players who received the certificates of merit from the Prime Minister.

In 2023, Viettel FC will continue to focus on youth training. The club sets a target that the percentage of its players will account for at least 85 percent of the national squad, he added.

The Viettel leader stressed that he will continue paying much attention to the club and require them to finish the V-League 2023 in the top three as well as clinch a ticket to play in the Vietnamese National Football Super Cup 2023.

At the ceremony, Viettel also announced its new contract with Jeferson Elias, a forward from the Aletico Minero Club’s youth training center in Brazil. He has played for Democrata FC and Patrocinense FC. In 2022, he played for URT FC, scored 11 goals after 18 matches.
