UpRace 2020 launched to raise funds for charities
PANO – The most popular community-based run “UpRace 2020” to raise fund for social activities will start on September 18 with a target to attract 50,000 participants across the country.
UpRace was launched by VNG, a technology company in Vietnam, in 2018. Through a mobile application, the cumulative distance of participating runners will be measured. Each validated kilometer fetches donations of at least VND 1,000 from sponsoring companies.
Last year, UpRace became a phenomenon as it attracted more than 32,000 runners throughout the country who ran a total distance of nearly 2 million kilometers and generated VND 6 billion for three social organizations.
Khu Thi Khanh Dung, a member of the Board of Directors of Newborns Vietnam, said that thanks to the funds from last year’s event, the charity helped more than 200,000 newborns, contributing to reducing infant mortality rate by 26% and infection rate by 18%.
The active participation of people in the race will help spread the message that sports can contribute to changing lives. Each participant will help the organization realize its goal of relieving the pain of all children with facial deformities, said Nguyen Bich Thuan, Development Director of Operation Smile.
Apart from joining the race, anyone who wants to contribute to social organizations can donate through ZaloPay.
