Southern hub to host int’l table tennis tourney
PANO - The 32nd Open Golden Racket International Table Tennis Tournament will take place in Ho Chi Minh City from July 4-7 with the participation of over 100 players from eight countries and territories.
The players, from Taiwan (China), Hong Kong (China), the Republic of Korea, Japan, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, will compete in men and women’s singles, and men and women’s team categories.

The tournament gathers many strong players such as Jiang Tianyi (63rd place in world men’s ranking), Mak Tze Wing (123rd place in world women’s ranking), and Orawan Paranang (183rd place globally and the current champion of the tournament).
The host Vietnam sends strong members of the Army Club, Vicem Hoang Thach – Hai Duong Club, Petrosetco Ho Chi Minh City Club, and independent athletes from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Vinh Long province to the tourney.
According to the organizers, the event is also part of the preparations for Vietnamese players ahead of the 18th Asian Games (Asiad) to be held in Indonesia from mid-August.
The total awards are worth over VND 250 million, with VND 30 million in cash for the team’s title and VND 20 million for single’s title.
