SEA Games 30: PM meets with football teams
PANO - Prime Minister (PM) Nguyen Xuan Phuc held a meeting with members of the men’s U22 football team and the women’s national football team on the evening of December 11 at the headquarters of the Government.

At the meeting, the two head-coaches, Park Hang-seo and Mai Duc Chung, and the two captains, Do Hung Dung and Huynh Nhu, briefed the PM on the achievements they gained at the tournament. The men’s U22 team has won the gold medal for the first time since Vietnam started the international integration of its sport sector. Meanwhile, the women’s team topped the region’s women’s football as it has won the gold medal for the sixth time. Both teams worked hard with their high sense of responsibility to bring home glory.
The PM highly appreciated the achievements of the two teams and revealed that certificates of merit would be awarded to the teams’ members at a ceremony to review the results of the sport delegation of Vietnam participating in the 30th SEA Games. He believed that the victories are not just limited to the fields of football and sports. They also serve as the encouragement and inspiration for people to thrive in other areas.

The head of the Government also hailed the contributions and crucial roles of the head-coaches in the achievements of the teams. He expressed his joy as seeing the high spirit of the people towards the historic victories of the football sector. He also reminded the footballers that nothing is older than yesterday’s glory, so they should keep training and learning to make more achievements at more difficult championships, especially the 31st SEA Games when Vietnam is the host. The PM then required the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, relevant agencies, and businesses to focus more on developing football, especially young players.
At the meeting, businesses such as Vingroup, T&T, Sun Group, Honda Vietnam, etc. announced their gifts to the two football teams. Especially, the Association of Vietnamese Young Entrepreneurs committed to allocating stable jobs for woman players after they quit football.
The PM also presented gifts to members of the two football teams as promised.
