Folk Games Festival held in Hanoi
PANO - The UNESCO Center for International Cultural Exchange and Preservation (ICEP – Hanoi Classy), in association with San Dinh and Toi xe dich Groups, on August 25 held the folk games festival along Trinh Cong Son pedestrian street in Tay Ho district.
The festival is a community-based and non-profit project with the aim of preserving and developing the values of Vietnamese folk games and creating an annual festival of Vietnamese folk games on August 18.
In the framework of the event, the organizing panel kicked off qualifying rounds of the Olympic Folk Games with four traditional games, namely bag jumping, Mandarin Square Capturing, walking on stilts and pitching pennies.
This activity was expected to contribute to spreading the unique cultural values of Vietnamese folk games, engaging communities and different generations in a family, as well as developing life skills for younger generations.
At the program, representatives of Vietnam Federation of UNESCO Associations also presented a decision approving and sponsoring the project of "Vietnam Folk Games Day" (18-8) for the ICEP – Hanoi Classy and San Dinh and Toi xe dich Groups.
