Athletes at the starting point

The tournament attracted the participation of 299 athletes inside and outside the country.

The 13-kilometer-long race passed through the communes of Dong Tuyen and Coc San in Lao Cai city, Tong Sanh in Bat Xat district, and ended at Mong Sen Bridge in Trung Chai commune, Sa Pa town. This is a BOT route connecting Noi Bai - Lao Cai highway to Sa Pa. Mong Sen’s highest pier rises 83 meters, which holds important meaning in building the road connecting Noi Bai - Lao Cai highway to the Sa Pa National Tourist Area.

This is a viaduct with a length of 612 meters, connecting the foothill area to the top of the three-level pass - the most difficult, winding and dangerous road from Lao Cai city to Sa Pa town. The bridge was made of reinforced concrete, with 14-meter surface and four lanes, five arches, of which the longest arch is 132 meter.

During the event, athletes showed their enthusiasm to overcome the bumpy road, crossing pristine areas and terraced fields of Sa Pa.

The tournament, co-held by the Sa Pa town People’s Committee and Lao Cai Bicycle Club, had six categories, namely amateur, young women, middle-aged women, young men, middle-aged men, and elderly men.

At the event

This was the unique tournament, leaving deep impressions on athletes. Concluding the event, the organizing board awarded winners via these categories.

The tournament contributed to not only promoting sports activities but also holding significant meaning because it was held only once before the road is put into operation.
