The Young Fine Arts Festival 2014 will be organised in late August at the Vietnam University of Fine Arts (VUFA) in Hanoi.

The countdown to the festival officially began on April 22 after being officially launched by the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition, the Vietnam Fine Arts Association and VUFA.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Vuong Duy Bien, who is acting as head of the festival’s steering board, described the festival as a chance for young artists across the country to show off their artistic talents.

Bien also stated that the event aims to reinforce the Party and State’s attention to young artists who will create cultural pieces for today and tomorrow, thus contributing to a strong national cultural identity.

Artistic entries to the festival must have been created between 2011 and June 2014. Pieces that have previously been displayed at any national exhibition hosted by the culture ministry will not be considered.

Young Vietnamese artists aged from 18 to 35 can take part in the festival by sending a maximum of two works to the Exhibition Centre of Fine Arts and Photography, 29 Hang Bai street, Hanoi from June 2-6.
