Vietnamese children discovering the Land of Literature
PANO - The Irish Embassy in Vietnam, the Vietnam-Ireland Alumni Network and the Amslink English Center are holding an English contest titled "Discover the Land of Literature" for Vietnamese children aged from 7 to 15.
The contest will not only create an opportunity for local children to experience an English environment, but also aim to seek excellent child translators and storytellers to work on some literary works and fairy tales of Ireland.
The qualifying round called "Hello from Vietnam" is now underway, lasting from July 1 to August 1 at two levels. Students from age 7 to 9 are required to translate a short story or make video clips on their reading of 10 to 20 random sentences from the folk fairy tale “King Puck” by Michael Garland. Students from age 10 to 15 are to translate stories or record video clips on their reading of some excerpts from “The O'Brien Book of Irish Fairy Tales & Legends.”
In the final round called "Welcome to Ireland" (from August 9 to 21), 20 outstanding candidates will be guided by the jury to complete their translation versions or video clips on the two Irish fairy tales, “King Puck” and “The O'Brien Book of Irish Fairy Tales & Legends”.
