Artists from the Drama Theatre of Vietnam are busy preparing a short play, to be staged at the China-ASEAN theatre festival and forum, which will kick off in China’s Autonomous Region Guangxi Zhuang, Nanning, on August 27.

The play, based on a folk tale, is about a poor but witty farmer who played tricks on the greedy and dishonest district mandarin and his wife.

The six-day event will see the participation of delegations from Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia and China. It is considered a start for long-term cooperation and cultural exchanges between China and ASEAN nations.
