PANO - Canoeist Truong Thi Phuong topped the women’s C1-200m event to bag the first gold medal for Vietnam in canoeing at the 28th Southeast Asian Games in Singapore on June 9th.

Phuong finished first with a time of 51.456 seconds, followed by Thiangkathok Orasa of Thailand and Andriyani Riska of Indonesia.

In addition, Vietnam’s canoeing also pocketed another two bronze medals in the women’s K1-200m event and the women’s K2-200m team event.

The same day, billiards player Tran Phi Hung defeated his peer Ma Minh Cam 100-92 to win the One-cushion carom title. Cam also got the silver.

So far, Vietnam is temporarily securing third place with 28 golds, 14 silvers and 33 bronzes. The host Singapore ranks first with 43 golds, 36 silvers and 49 bronzes.
