PANO – The Vinh Phuc provincial People’s Committee on March 14th held a ceremony in Vinh Yen city to receive certificates recognizing Tay Thien-Tam Dao historical and scenic relic and Binh Son tower as special national relic sites. Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam attended the event.
Located on Thach Ban Mountain in the Tam Dao Mountain Range in Tam Dao district, Tay Thien is well-known for its tranquil and sacred atmosphere. The highlight of the site is the temple to worship Mother Lang Thi Tieu, Hung King’s sixth wife, who helped the king defeat invaders and taught the people how to grow rice. Other temples, such as Chan Tien, Thien An, Phu Nghi, Dong Co, Tay Thien, Thuong Tay Thien, and Thong are also tourist attractions.

In 1991, Tay Thien site was recognised as a national relic site and its sub-projects were newly built or upgraded to become a centre for cultural activities and festivals.
Binh Son Tower in Tam Son town, Song Lo district with a unique architectural and art features was built in the late 13th and early 14th centuries from terra-cotta, and ornamented with diverse patterns.
The recognition demonstrated the present generation’s gratitude to former ones, and was intended to honour and popularize the unique values of the relics so as to call for investment and to promote local tourism.
Addressing the ceremony, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Tri promised that the local Party Committee, authorities, businesses and people will join hands to preserve and promote the value of all cultural heritages in general and the two newly-recognised relics in particular, to contribute to the comprehensive and sustainable development of the province.
After the certificate presentation ceremony, the delegates and locals had a chance to enjoy impressive art performances reflecting the beauty of the province and its people, as well as their pride in intangible cultural heritages, by around 1,000 artists, singers, and instrumentalists and a 15-minute long fireworks display.
