The festival consisted of two main parts, namely ceremonial rituals and festive activities.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Chairman of the People's Committee of Son Tra district and head of the festival’s organization panel Huynh Van Hung said that the festival is to show respect and gratitude to the ancestors who established the temples for worshiping whale. At the same time, it is an occasion to pray for peace, favorable weather, smooth sailing for fishing boats, bounteous catches, and the peaceful, prosperous life of fishermen.
The Wale Worshipping Festival in Son Tra district lasts for three days, from February 23 to 25. The event is expected to attract both locals and tourists interested in learning about and experiencing the life of fishermen.
