Quang Ninh province has completed preparations to host the 8th National Radio Broadcasting Festival, which is expected to draw the participation of over 600 reporters nationwide, said Dao Duy Cat, director of the Quang Ninh Radio and TV Station, at a press conference in Hanoi on August 15.

Mr Cat said the Quang Ninh Radio and TV Station has established an organizing board for the festival with the aim of making the 8th National Radio Broadcasting Festival a great success.

Head of the editorial secretariat of the Voice of Vietnam (VOV), Do Ngoc Anh, who is also general secretary of the festival, said the organizing board has received 260 works from 79 units across the country. Five press genres in this festival include investigative reporting, interview, radio drama, local radio broadcasting, and live radio broadcasting. As many as 123 works qualified for the final examination, he added.

VOV Deputy General Director Le Dinh Dao said that Vietnam now has a total radio staff of about 30,000. The festival aims to bring radio programmes closer to people’s daily life which really serve their interests.

The final examination will be held in northern Quang Ninh province from August 17 to 20. The opening ceremony will take place at the Vietnam-Japan cultural house in Ha Long City on August 18.
