PANO - The Albanian version of the collection of poems “Prison Diary” written by President Ho Chi Minh was released by the Vietnam Writers’ Association on October 21st in Hanoi.

Albanian American doctor, poet and translator Gjeke Marinaj translated this collection.

At the ceremony, the translator held that he loves Vietnam and its people and has deep respect for President Ho Chi Minh who was a poet, a leader and a warrior for peace.

To have the completed Albanian version of “Prison Diary”, the translator has spent months looking up many foreign versions of this collection, even in Han scripts. He hoped readers from all over the world, especially those who speak Albanian, would understand the humanitarian spirit, solidarity and messages of peace found in this work.

This version, with 5,000 copies, will be released in Albania, Greece, Kosovo, the Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia.  

On the occasion, Chairman of the Vietnam Writers’ Association poet Huu Thinh presented translator Gjeke Marinaj with the insignia “for the cause of Vietnam’s Literature and Arts”.

The Albanian version of “Prison Diary” is among the first translation work to be carried out since the third conference on popularizing Vietnam’s literature this March.

So far, “Prison Diary” by President Ho Chi Minh has been translated into 25 languages.
