PANO – An art painting exhibition, Breathtaking Vietnam, displaying 13 works of French artist Denis Boywd, has opened at the La Residence in Hue City to raise money for needy children in Thua Thien-Hue Province.

With French titles such as Les Joyeux Lampignons (Joyful Lanterns) and À La Nuit Tombee (At the Nightfall), painter Boywd had recorded the local people’s daily activities, beautiful landscapes and his sweet memories during his visit to Vietnam.

Each painting costs between VND27.3 million and VND33.6 million each and the author expected to collect about VND390million for the Hue Help, a non-profit organisation which is managing a Children Sponsoring Centre, and for some education programs for disadvantaged children in Thua Thien-Hue.

“The Boywd’s works will leave deep impression to visitors for the beauty of country and people of Vietnam. Each painting is not only a souvenir for tourists but also a contribution to improving the lives of local needy students”, said Mr. Anthony Gill, General Director of the La Residence Hotel.

The Hue Help was established in 2006 by a group of American and English students, in association with experts in gon-governmental organisations in Vietnam with the aim of running charitable programs in Thua Thien-Hue, including providing accommodation for needy children, and swimming tuition for children in flood-prone areas in Hue.

The exhibition will last until the end of May, 2012.
