The Munich-based Raggabund band's two brothers, with the stage names Paco Mendoza and Don Caramelo, will perform in Hanoi to open the Deutschlandfest (German Festival) on March 28.
Founded in 2000, Raggabund's duo was influenced by their Latin roots as well as the Latin American reggae scene and sang mainly in Spanish. The brothers have worked with several famous music producers to release their albums, which have been acclaimed by music lovers. The band also held concerts in different countries such as Peru, Mexico, Guatemala and the United States (San Francisco).
Their performance in Hanoi is part of the 40th anniversary celebrations of German-Vietnamese diplomatic relations. Entry is free to the concerts that will be held at the Vietnam Exhibition Centre for Culture and Arts, 2 Hoa Lu Street, Hai Ba Trung District, at 10am and 6.30pm.
On the night before their concert, the duo will introduce themselves at the Goethe-Institute, and will also talk about "crowd funding", which is how the band financed their latest CD. They will also give a short performance that night.
