PANO – The 2nd cultural festival of the Mong ethnic minority will take place on November 18 and 19 in Ha Giang province with the participation 13 provinces where Mong people live, announced at a press conference on November 8 by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The event, themed “Preservation and promotion of the Mong cultural identity amid international integration”, aims to honor traditional cultural values of the Mong ethnic minority among the united but diversified culture of Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups.

It is also an opportunity for artists and people to exchange experiences and raise their awareness of the preservation and promotion of traditional cultural values of the community, contributing to developing Vietnam’s culture imbued with national identity.
The festival will feature a number of activities, such as a traditional costume fashion show, the Mong ethnic people’s cuisine, traditional cultural rituals, as well as crossbow competition and folk games of the community.
Earlier, a cultural event of the Mong ethnic group in Ha Giang will open at Ly Thai To Park in Hanoi from November 11 to 13. Local people and tourists will enjoy Tam Giac Mach (Triangle Oat), a typical kind of flower of Ha Giang province.
The press conference also introduced some activities of “Ethnic groups unity – Vietnam’s Cultural Heritage” Week which will take place in the Culture - Tourism Village of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups in Dong Mo, Son Tay district, Hanoi, from November 18 to 23.
The week will draw about 120 old villagers, artisans, and ethnic minority people such as Tay (Thai Nguyen province), Xo Dang (Kon Tum province), Ba Na (Phu Yen province) and 40 ethnic minorities who are now living in the village.
